🇮🇹 Italy digital nomad visa: requirements

Italy's remote-worker visa became fully operational after a slow rollout. It targets 'highly skilled' remote workers and freelancers and, like the others, requires proof of income and qualifying health insurance. Its income bar is the lowest on this list — the filter is the skill requirement and paperwork instead.

Income requirement

You need to show roughly €2,333 per month. Italy sets the bar as an annual figure: about €28,000/year (roughly €2,333/month), calculated as three times the minimum level for healthcare-fee exemption. You must also count as a 'highly skilled' worker, and income must come from non-Italian employers or clients. With a spouse the annual requirement rises to about €34,087, plus about €1,550/year per child.

Health insurance

Health insurance valid in Italy for the whole stay covering medical care and hospitalisation. This is the step that rejects the most applications, so it's worth getting right.
