🇬🇷 Greece digital nomad visa: requirements

Greece combines a straightforward income test with a strong tax incentive — a 50% income-tax cut for new residents — and a clear renewal path. The trade-off is a higher income threshold than some neighbours, and a February 2026 rule change means you now have to apply from outside the country, at a consulate.

Income requirement

You need to show roughly €3,500 per month. Minimum net monthly income for a single applicant. Add 20% for a spouse and 15% for each child. Since February 2026 (Law 5275/2026) you must apply at a Greek consulate before travelling — in-country applications for the nomad permit are no longer accepted.

Health insurance

Health insurance covering at least €30,000 and valid across all Schengen countries for the duration of stay. This is the step that rejects the most applications, so it's worth getting right.

Tax

New tax residents can qualify for a 50% reduction on Greek income tax for up to seven years.

How long it lasts

12-month visa, renewable as a 2-year residence permit. It can lead to longer-term residency if you keep meeting the conditions.
